Peter Jackson casts Rachel Weisz for new boring flick

Peter Jackson's next flick will be a feature adaptation of Alice Sebold's novel The Lovely Bones. Described as "..the story of a teenage girl who, after being brutally raped and murdered, watches from heaven as her family and friends go on with their lives, while she herself comes to terms with her own death" on Wikipedia, you can see why I said it was going to be boring. And it will be, and it won't do well in the theaters either. People don't go to the theaters to see that, they read books to see that.

That said, it may have some redeeming qualities in that news has come out that Jackson will cast Rachel Weisz as the mother of the murdered girl, and DreamWorks is producing which gives it more credibility in my mind for quality than some other independent studios have.

It's still going to bomb, though.
