More Crappy Terminator Knockoffs Coming

The Terminator was awesome. Terminator 2: Judgement Day was epic. Terminator 3 was absolute junk. Ready for more of the latter? I bet you are, you sick bastard.

James Cameron in some unfathomable intervention by Satan himself lost the rights to Terminator when he divorced Linda Hamilton. She was very open about getting the rights just so she could sell them off, and that's exactly what she did, and this is why no Terminator flick will ever be written or helmed by Cameron again.

We won't even have Schwarzenegger; his body looks nothing like it used to under that suit and tie he wears in the California Governors mansion these days.

That of course hasn't stopped other people's attempts to live off the films reputation. T3 was a disaster, and based on what Variety is reporting, you can expect as many more as the new rights holders can possibly produce. They intend to milk it to death, quality be damned.

Expect more Terminator, but don't expect anything worth seeing.

  • Canada is already reacting to Warner Brothers vow to stop pre-screening films in country due to lax piracy laws. They still have a very long way to go before they can be a respectable IP partner though.

Warner Bros. claims that more than 70% of its titles pirated in the past 18 months come from Canada.
  • States are doing more to attract film production, keeping more money in-country.
  • Shrek 3 may have been one Shrek too many for some.
  • Well, at least Harry Knowles liked Spider-Man 3.
  • Law & Order may move to TNT...next year.
  • Entertainment Weekly nabbed an interview with two executive producers from Lost.
  • Bruce Willis is hamming it up with fans and netizens on AICN.

Well, thats just sad. Sometimes, you make more money off the originals by re-releasing them with new effects then by making junk sequels. How did Linda Hamilton get the rights and control over Arnold? If one of the actors is going to have it, should he have some say? Okay maybe not.

"How did Linda Hamilton get the rights and control over Arnold?"

She was married to Cameron and got them in the divorce in the splitting of assets.
