BREAKING: MSNBC Drops Don Imus

According to wire reports, MSNBC has temporarily suspended their live morning broadcast of the 'Imus in the Morning' radio show due to insensitive racial remarks. I think that's kind of funny to be honest, as anybody who watches Imus knows that he makes insensitive remarks about just about anyone and everyone. That's his schtick, he makes fun of people all day and that's how he gets his ratings. I'm honestly surprised it took so little to get him in trouble compared to the mountain of this crap he has been building since he got on the air.
NBC News President Steve Capus released this statement on the MSNBC Web site late Monday: "Beginning Monday, April 16, MSNBC will suspend simulcasting the syndicated ‘Imus in the Morning’ radio program for two weeks. This comes after careful consideration in the days since his racist, abhorrent comments were made. Don Imus has expressed profound regret and embarrassment and has made a commitment to listen to all of those who have raised legitimate expressions of outrage. In addition, his dedication — in his words — to change the discourse on his program moving forward, has confirmed for us that this action is appropriate. Our future relationship with Imus is contingent on his ability to live up to his word."
It wasn't all that long ago that another WFAN personality who did sports news made one-too-many stupid remarks and got himself fired by the show outright. At this time though, Imus is still helming the show, it's just that MSNBC isn't carrying it for the time being. Good for them.
Imus told Sharpton, "Our agenda is to be funny and sometimes we go too far." And he said that in this case, "we went way too far." Earlier Monday, on his own show, Imus said, "I'm not a bad person -- I'm a good person, but I said a bad thing."
That's an excuse, and a poor one. Don Imus isn't funny and neither are any of his other hosts. His business is to mock people and bring in ratings that represent people who enjoy that crap, and he delivers.
Update: CBS Radio has also dropped Imus for two weeks. This could be enough for WFAN to step in now.
