Snakes On A Plane Crashes on Takeoff

With all the hype it has received, it would have been hard to bet against Snakes on a Plane making a huge splash at the box office. Turns out it would have been a good bet after all.The $33 million dollar flick staring Samuel L. Jackson debuted with an incredibly disappointing $15 million over the weekend in a wide release (over 3500 theaters.) Snakes wasn't even able to knock NASCAR themed comedy Talladega Nights off the top spot, coming it number 2 behind a movie already nearing its third week in release.

New Line must be devastated over this, but I guess everybody should have seen it coming. Nobody expected Snakes to be an Oscar contender after all. With a $33m budget and unknown marketing costs which could easily double that number, Snakes may not even break even during its theatrical run. The amount of bad press it's going to get for choking is just going to make things worse.

Personally, I can't wait to get it on DVD. Cause dude, it's snakes...on a plane.

Bitch what?

Far as I knew the media has already pointed out that theatre showings are losing people, more and more are just grabbing DVDs, so the media going 'oh gawd it has a crappy box office opening' is total bullshit for ignoring their own words.

I dont know about you, but i'll wait for sure for the DVD to come out, I rather spend my hard earned 20 bucks on the DVD than spend 10-15 bucks for a theatre showing with a bunch of people I hate being in the same room with.
Movie reviewers are known for having the most fucked up reviews, like say... Blair Witch? At least SOAP had cheesy one liners from samuel jackson that just seems for some people to make it fun. I know some people who'll ninja that movie off the net and vanish before the MPAA knows what hit them.
